History

In the year of 1983 the hurling club became alive thanks to the efforts of Peter Murphy, Jack & Tom Mahony, John Walsh & Mossie Doody. It was to be the beginning of the most successful hurling club in NSW history, beginning with its first League Title in 1985 and continuing it's success through to the millenium.

The guile and inspiration of coaches Tom Bowden & Paddy Murphy was to lead the Coast to six league titles on the trot from 1985 to 1990, and three championship titles in 1986, 1988 & 1989. These victories would not have been possible without the passion and style of the coast hurling legends such as Tony Henderson, Paul Flood, Jim Ryan, Peter Murphy, Willie Fleming, Carlow Joe, Pierce Dalton, Super Sub Steve Carey and of course, d'unbelievables Larry & Seamus Delahunty.

The Coast were back in the 90's and went on to win 5 more league titles and 4 championships.Having gone through a barren period since their last championship win in '97 the Coast are back to be a force to be reckoned with. Defeated narrowly in League and Championship finals this year the Coast managed to claim 5 places on the Australasian team of the year including player of the tournament Chris Fanning 2001 after representing NSW country in the State games.

The Coast won the Australasian State championship 2003 rather convincingly this year with numerous All-Star awards for the following players: Shane Hickey, Paddy Dwyer, Paul Bolger, Willie Lawless, Paddy O'Keefe, Stephen O'Keefe, Brian O'Brien, Aiden Lyons, MJ Furlong, Eamon Curley, Paul Whitty and player of the tournament going to Paddy Dwyer from the Coast.

The Coast won the League in 2004 with the leadership of Larry Delahunty , Steve Carey, Stephen O'Keefe, Brian O'Brien, Dermot Tierney,  Trevor Sutton and Peter "Podge" Hennessy to name a few. It was an epic final versus the Sydney Shamrocks, end to end nail biting stuff.

Coast followed on there winning ways into 2005 with a pre-season win in Melbourne, trouncing all teams in sight. This was backed up by the elusive win over the Coast Tournament in Gosford. Great skill, speed and talent was shown on the field coming away glorious winners with Paddy Dwyer picking up player of the match.

The Coast retained the League trophy by beating a tough Michael Cusacks team though our great goalscoring efforts made sure that the Coast are once again the team to beat in 2005.

The Coast once again played in the Australasian State Championships 2005 losing narrowly to NSW City. All-Star awards for the following players: Barry Keating, Brian Glynn, Aidan McCormack, Kevin Dobbs, Sean Ryan, Dermot Waterhouse and player of the tournament going to Barry Keating from the Coast.

In 2006 the Coast contested both the melbourne and the Gosford Finals, while been narrowly defeated by eventual Championship winners in a see-saw battle against the Pats. The Coast provided 4 Players on the Sucessful NSW State Team who defeated WA in a keenly contested final in Perth. All Australians going to Paul McConville, James O Loughlin and Kevin Dobbs.

2007 saw the retirement of some of the clubs Stalwarts such as Paddy Dwyer however the Coast regrouped and put up some great displays on the way to the Gosford Final in which they went down narrowly to the Shamrocks. The club provided the Captain of the successful NSW team in the State Games held in Sydney in Adrian Murphy, who along with Kevin Dobbs were club members selected on the All Australian team.
